#16 Wikis

Wikis get everyone into the project. ALA New Orleans listed everything from Restaurants to bus routes. Libraries could really use the subject wikis to put more content into a heading like Weddings. The site listed readings for the ceremony, magazines, music, and even honeymoon ideas. These headings are the way people look at a subject, not just the standard catalog. I thought the Princeton Public library book lovers Wiki was a perfect place for anyone to write a quick review of a book. Others chime in and soon there are several categories of books that people want to share. Wikis can be inventive.

#15 Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future

In today's world, libraries, especially public libraries, have to dialogue with users wherever they are. Users can help plan for library services and say what they want the library to provide. Librarians can use instant messages, weblogs, and wikis to communicate with their customers. Any way libraries can make services, especially web services, more user friendly will encourage people to realize that libraries are not static, but adapting to new technology. OCLC has an experiment to enable anyone to have access to their records without cumbersome user identification.
To start, BCPL continually reworks it's WEB page to get users to the databases and government services as easily as possible. The library of the future won't depend as much on the public coming into the building but the services that flow out from the library site. WE have to encourage the dialogue between the library and the potential users.

When I searched Learning 2.0 in BLOGS, I got different people's blog. Tags gave me Video streams of Librarians telling about Learning 2.0 and some irrevelant photos. Blog directory assured me that there are 540 blogs about learning 2.0. Technorati was much fun in showing Videos about Dick Chaney saying we shouldn't go into Iraq. Also there is a music category where people post blogs with Disc jackets telling you about what they are listening to. Is there ever going to be a Colman to remove unlistened or unread blogs? It could be BLOGSWEEPER.

I created a delicious account and saw what some of the PLCMCL2 people had to say. When I checked bookmarks I was shocked to see that people from all over the world and in every language make use of this site.While it may be useful for bookmarking I didn't see anything scholarly here.

#10 images BAD MEEZ

I thought I was posting a great picture from MEEZ. This was ny third try as it wouldn't work with the library computers. Oh well, I liked the image and playing with the different backgrounds.

Week 4 Thing #9 and#10

I added an image from image maker and put a face on my previous postcard. I used library thing to list my books. This is a great way to keep tract of what is worth recommending to others. The website is: www.librarything.com?catalog/cramire. I plan to use this site again. It was very useful
